CNC Programmer

Summary
Luxfer Canada Ltd. is seeking a CNC Programmer with a strong background in Siemens and Fanuc controls, and a focus on aluminum machining. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing our existing CNC programs, improving efficiency, and supporting our production team through technical expertise and training. The CNC programmer with work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure all specification are met efficiently and accurately.
Essential Functions of the Job
- Review and optimize existing CNC programs to reduce cycle times where appropriate and improve efficiency.
- Create new programs when required, based on engineering and customer requirements and specifications.
- Develop a consistent daily maintenance regime for all CNC machines.
- Train CNC operators in proper machine operation, setup, and daily maintenance practices.
- Monitor and assess cutting tool performance and condition for all CNC machines; maintain a spare part inventory.
- Assist in the setup and integration of a new Fanuc-controlled CNC machine, including tooling setup, program implementation, and operator training.
- Troubleshoot program and machine issues to minimize downtime and reduce scrap.
- Create and validate rework programs to recover non-conforming parts when possible.
- Ensure parts are being machined to meet specifications, and complying with quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with Fanuc and Siemens CNC controls.
- Experience in operating and programming CNC machines.
- Proficiency in CNC programming (e.g., G-code, CAM software).
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience training or mentoring operators is an asset.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and quality production standards.
Education Requirements
- 2 plus years of relevant experience in CNC programming (3-Axis)
- CNC Machining Technology or equivalent college diploma
Schedule & Compensation
- Shift: Monday – Friday, 8am-4:30pm
- Benefits: Available after a 90-day probation period
