Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Innovation and Engineering, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the Engineering team and overseeing the engineering activities related to capital expenditure, the manufacturing of composite cylinders, and automation of the manufacturing process.

This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to drive performance, innovation, and safety within the manufacturing environment.

The position is based at the Luxfer Riverside, CA facility. 

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Leadership and Team Management:
    • Mentor, guide and support engineering team members to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
    • Setting project priorities
    • Set performance goals and provide regular feedback via informal and scheduled reviews
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability within the engineering team.
  • Project Management:
    • Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects, including new equipment installations, process improvements, and facility upgrades, within budget and timeline constraints.
    • Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables.
  • Production Support and Continuous Improvement:
    • Ensuring the engineering department collaborates with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and maximize operational efficiency.
    • Provide training and support for production staff on new equipment and automation processes
  • Quality and Safety Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, quality requirements, and safety protocols in all engineering activities.
    • Implement best practices and risk mitigation strategies to enhance workplace safety and product quality.
  • Guide and support the documentation efforts for equipment validation and operating procedures

Job Skills and Requirements

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in mentoring, developing engineering personnel and supervising technical work.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with PLC programming and core automation principles
  • Experience in leading cost improvements projects
  • Proven ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Ability to create engineering budget and manage capital plans.
  • Must be able to create and follow processes and procedures.

Education/Training Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in engineering management within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in automation systems and manufacturing processes
  • Proven experience (7+ years) in developing, managing, and implementing capital expenditure plans

Compensation Range: $140,000 to $155,000
