Production Manager
Reports to: VP of Manufacturing
Location: Riverside, CA
Pay: 100K – 140K depending on experience
 
Summary:
The Production Manager provides leadership for the activities and personnel in an established Value Stream to obtain a safe, efficient, productive, and cost- efficient manufacturing operation. The Production Manager increases the ratio of value to non-value and eliminates waste in the overall value stream from start to finish and ensures that the production areas meet or exceeds customer requirements.
Essential Functions of the Job:
  • Ensure a strong focus is placed on safety and maintain an excellent safety record
  • Responsible for managing resources for assigned Value Stream, actively monitor staffing level to remain in budget, and encourage employee development within direct and indirect employees
  • Champion continuous improvement projects using appropriate metrics and data sources, including improvement or mitigation plans needed to achieve the next level of performance
  • Optimize manufacturing process to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring root causes for quality issues are identified and appropriate improvement actions are put in place
  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan to engage employees in the day-to-day operations
  • Lead initiatives for employee involvement and engagement
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with internal quality and AS9100 standards
  • Work with departments to ensure coordination of purchasing, maintenance, production, quality and shipping
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure new product development goals of product manufacturability are met
  • Work as a change agent to drive out waste in the manufacturing operations
  • Drives a continuous improvement culture through employee involvement in problem solving and decision making. Recognizing exceptional work.
  • Recommend and implement changes regarding production capability, tooling, and machine replacement and staffing to support production plans
  • Monitor daily performance.  Verifies counter measures and recovery plans are in place for missed targets
  • Ensures the highest quality standards are maintained.  Provides coaching, information, ideas, feedback, and encouragement to Team Leaders

Job Skills and Requirements:
  • 7 years of professional experience working in manufacturing
  • 5 years of leadership experience leading people
  • Strong leadership ability
  • Understand and lead according to Luxfer Values
  • Good communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills
  • Basic financial understanding
  • Strong ability to prioritize and delegate
  • Analysis, critical thinking, and investigation skills
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Work and interact with all levels of employees
  • Adept at building trusting relationships
  • Must be diplomatic
  • Self-starter that is adept at taking initiative
Education/Training Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical, industrial, aerospace, or manufacturing engineering preferred
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
  • 7+ years of experience working in a high-speed mixed-model manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office)
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods standing/walking the manufacturing floor
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at the time.
