Hourly Compensation Range: $25-$27/Hour

Position Summary:

The Junior Staff Accountant is an entry level position with no previous professional accountant experience required. Assists in the Corporate General Accounting activities of the company.  This position is key in month end financial closing and reporting as well as account reconciliation and analysis. The ideal candidate is an energetic and organized self-starter, who is proficient in Excel and month end close.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and filling of all sales and property tax returns and all other requested filings for Gas Cylinders US.
  • Liaison with affiliated companies to confirm monthly intercompany account balances and settlements to ensure successful elimination at consolidation by Luxfer Group Head Office.
  • Prepare journal entries required to maintain appropriate general ledger account balances for intercompany accounts, cash, various prepaid and deferred expenses, and other accrued expenses.  Prepare and maintain related account analyses and reconciliations to ensure proper reporting of the company’s assets and liabilities.
  • Assist in the month-end general ledger closing process for Gas Cylinders US preparation of complete and accurate financial statements.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of the monthly financial reporting package for Gas Cylinders US to Luxfer Group Head Office, ensuring accurate and timely transmission of data.
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley internal control compliance processes and assist the Internal Audit department with periodic audits and reviews.
  • Participate in the company’s annual financial audit as required.
  • Maintenance of all fixed assets and associated reporting.
  • Daily and monthly reconciliations of cash accounts
  • Maintenance of all leases and associated reporting.
  • Business insurance annual renewal.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common financial reports and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively communicate verbally and formally with all levels of the organization in a sensitive manner.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of algebra.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to multitask and adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable functioning in a role that requires a high degree of flexibility, where work is generally non-routine in nature and is performed using individual discretion under minimal supervision (balanced with the willingness to ask questions and request clarification).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions through independent study.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Positive attitude, with a passion for learning and a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Teams.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Entry Level Professional Accounting role with no previous professional Accountant Experience required.
  • Experience with a Sarbanes Oxley control environment desirable but not required.
  • Experience with SAP MRP system preferred
  • Experience with OneStream reporting system preferred
